DIGITAL X-RAYS
Digital X-Rays are an essential part of our practice and commitment to providing benchmark quality dental care. Compared to the use of traditional film, digital x-rays are quicker and the images upload straight to the computer. With the help of digital x-rays, our dental professionals are able to detect any hidden tooth decay and gum disease, diagnose inflammation and infection earlier, check for any TMJ disorders and help plan for any treatment you may require such as fillings, crowns, bridges, veneers, braces or implants.
Along with being more time and cost efficient, digital x-rays also mean less radiation for you and have the ability to be digitally enhanced so that we have a clearer ‘picture’ of what is happening in your mouth.
OPG
An OPG is a special panoramic x-ray which shows us an overview of your upper and lower jaw. It differs from other digital x-rays which generally show a close up view of the teeth and may also reveal issues with the jaw and any signs of Temporomandibular Joint Disorder. You may be asked to have an OPG to assess your gum health and to help plan for any orthodontic treatment such as braces or to assess the position and condition of your wisdom teeth. At The Dental Studio Stirling, we have invested in our own digital OPG machine which means your x-rays can be taken during your appointment and your conditions diagnosed on the day, saving you the time and the inconvenience of having to go elsewhere.
INTRA – ORAL PHOTOGRAPHY
Intra-oral photography involves taking images from inside the mouth using a specially designed camera. These detailed images help us to take an in-depth look at your teeth, gums and bite which are then used to inform and create your personalised treatment plan. Using an intra-oral camera, our dental professionals can also better detect any hidden tooth decay or gum disease as well as any chips and fractures the human eye cannot detect. These images allow us to communicate and show you exactly what is happening in your mouth.
EXTRA – ORAL PHOTOGRAPHY
Extra-oral photography refers to photos taken from outside the mouth. At The Dental Studio Stirling, we use our DSLR Nikon camera to take before and after images of your teeth, particularly after orthodontic or cosmetic treatment such as braces, veneers, implants, crowns and bridges. In today’s modern world, extra-oral dental photography is a great tool for not only demonstrating your current condition and end results, but is also an easy and effective method of monitoring your teeth during treatment. When creating crowns, veneers, dentures and bridges, our dental photography also allows our external network of laboratories to determine the best way to optimise your aesthetic results during a smile makeover.
SOFT TISSUE LASER
Also known as a dental diode laser, soft tissue lasers are used in procedures which require cutting or contouring soft oral tissues in the mouth. From reshaping the gum to lip and tongue tie releases, our soft tissue laser uses light energy to remove the skin, layer by layer in a precise and antibacterial manner. Unlike traditional scissor or scalpel methods, soft tissue laser therapy use results in no bleeding or stitches and faster and more comfortable healing for you.
As a proud member of the Australian Dental Association, we adopt and adhere to strict infection control guidelines to ensure the safety of all our patients and team members.
Featuring state-of-the-art equipment, our sterilization room has been specially designed in line with the ADA’s leading standards and is constantly reviewed and updated to reflect advancements in infection control and disease management in Australian dental care.
Each time you visit our practice, you will also notice that each of our operating rooms has been kept to benchmark standards in infection control.
We use autoclave sterilisation in conjunction with disposable barriers and alcohol wipes on all our equipment, which are changed after every patient to remove the risk of cross contamination. We also provide all our patients with protective eyewear and a bib to prevent any spraying or splattering of blood, water or other bodily substances which may occur during treatment.
Even our dental chairs have been specially designed with a soft-touch and seamless upholstery for easy sterilization and maintenance so you can rest assured that you’re in safe, clean hands each and every time you visit.
